Satan and Demons

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment¼ 2 Peter 2:4 KJV

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he has reserved in everlasting chains under dark-ness unto the judgment of the great day. Jude v6 KJV

Are these fallen angels, demons? Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils [demons]? Matthew 7:22 KJV

· Demons are spirits. Demon influence may manifest itself in religious asceticism [self-denial] and formalism. [1Timothy 4:1-3]

· The sign of demon influence in religion is departing from the truth of the Scriptures.

[1 Timothy 4:1]

· Demons maintain a conflict with believers who would be spiritual. [Ephesians 6:12]

· There is such a thing as demon posses-sion. [Ephesians 2:2]

·The book of Revelation speaks of an irruption of demons out of Hell.

[Revelation 9:1-11]

· They know their fate to be one of torment. [Matthew 8:29, Luke 8:31]

Beast and False Prophet

But the beast [Anti-Christ, the Beast out of the Sea, imitating Jesus Christ] was captur-ed, and with him the false prophet [the Beast out of the Earth, imitating the Holy Spirit], who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of fire. Revelation 19:20 NIV

Consciousness in Hell?

Thrown alive into the lake of fire!

A thousand years later Satan meets this same fate and the Anti-christ and the False Prophet are there to greet him. A thousand years later and they are still alive, that is, still conscious.

Hopes of annihilation [being wiped out]

We must exasperate

The Almighty Victor to spend all his rage;

And that must end us, that must be our cure-

To be no more. Sad cure! for who would lose,

Though full of pain, this intellectual being,

Those thoughts that wander through eternity,

To perish rather, swallowed up and lost

In the wide womb of uncreated Night,

Devoid of sense and motion?  And who knows,

Let this be good, whether our angry foe

Can give it, or will ever? How he can

Is doubtful; that he never will is sure.

Satan into Lake of Fire

When the thousand years are over [the Millennium], Satan will be released from his prison [the bottomless pit] and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth, –Gog and Magog– to gather them for battle. ... But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. –Revelation 7-10 NIV

Death and Hell

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

-Revelation 20:11-15 KJV

Jesus and Hell

Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me. — I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. –Matthew 25:41-46 NIV

Separation from God

· Satan sinned [See page 1] along with _ of Heaven’s angels. Did God offer them forgiveness, a Calvary? Did they want it? And even in Hell [the lake of fire], will they ever want it? How dreadful!

· Mankind sinned but, God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV
